Frequently Asked Questions
-
Laugh at the Library is based in Chicago and the surrounding 100 or so miles, but we can help produce a great comedy show anywhere in the United States.
-
Typically Laugh at the Library shows run 60 minutes, but we can shorten or lengthen depending on your needs.
-
Our shows are appropriate for adults of all sensibilities. No swear words, no politics, and no bedroom material. We recommend ages 16+ as children can have a hard time sitting quietly through a comedy show (and content can include kid-unfriendly topics like the Tooth Fairy not being real). The MPAA would rate our shows G or PG.
-
While the comedy shows are clean, they are not designed for the interests or attention spans of children. Therefore we kindly request you promote the show as being for your adult patrons.
-
Because all our shows are put together custom for you, let us know your budget constraints and we can usually put together a show that will work for your library.
-
For most libraries, the show goes something like this:
6:30 pm: Audience is seated6:45 pm: The first comic, the evening’s host, does a set and introduces the featured comic
6:55 pm: The second comic, the feature, performs
7:15 pm: The host introduces the third comic, the headliner
7:45 pm: The host thanks the audience for attending and your patrons thank you for hosting such a fun program

We have an impressive bank of stand-up comedians with every credit you could hope for. Laugh at the Library’s roster includes established pros who have full-length specials; comics who are regulars at big-name clubs like Zanies and Laugh Factory; and up-and-comers we’ve discovered. The one thing they all have in common? They work clean.
