How it works
Three steps to a fantastic program
You pick a date. We handle the rest.
Tell us your date
Fill out the form with your date, your room, and anything special you have in mind. We reply with a custom proposal you can take to your director.
We build the lineup
We put together a custom comic lineup for your audience, and one of our comics doubles as the sound tech. Nothing for your staff to set up.
Your patrons have a blast
Your room laughs for an hour, your staff looks like heroes, and you book the return visit with a brand-new lineup.
A typical show
Doors at 6:30. Out by 8.

What areas do you serve?
Laugh at the Library is based in Chicago and serves the surrounding 100 or so miles. We can also help produce a great comedy show anywhere in the United States — just ask.
How long is the show?
Typically 60 minutes. We can shorten or lengthen it depending on your needs.
How clean is it, exactly?
Our shows are appropriate for adults of all sensibilities — the MPAA would rate them G or PG. We book comics who make their living working clean rooms, and every one of them knows exactly what kind of night a library show is.
What ages is it for?
While the comedy is clean, it is not designed for the interests or attention spans of children. We kindly ask that you promote the show as a program for your adult patrons. We recommend 16 and up.
What do you need from us?
A room, chairs, and a power outlet. We bring the comics, the sound system, and the microphone — one of our comics runs the sound. Your staff does not need to set up or tear down anything.
Who are the comedians?
We have an impressive bank of stand-up comedians with every credit you could hope for — established pros with full-length specials, regulars at big-name clubs like Zanies and the Laugh Factory, and up-and-comers we have discovered. The one thing they all have in common? They work clean.
How far ahead should we book?
Earlier is better, especially for Friday and Saturday dates and for anything tied to a program series. That said, if you have a hole in next month’s calendar, ask — we can often fill it.
Are you insured?
Yes. We carry liability insurance and will send a Certificate of Insurance naming your library or district on request.
What does it cost?
Most library shows are $600. Because every show is put together custom for you, tell us your budget constraints and we can usually build something that works — and we can scale up toward a full comedy-club production.
